About Us

CssShift is a one-tool site. We build a CSS gradient generator — builds linear, radial and conic gradients visually with draggable color stops and live preview, then exports prefixed CSS or a React style object — and nothing else. No sign-up, no mailing list, no paywall: you open the page and use it.

Why we built this

Search for developer tools and you will mostly find pages that bury a single calculation under cookie walls, newsletter modals and three paragraphs of filler. We built CssShift as the opposite: one focused tool that builds linear, radial and conic gradients visually with draggable color stops and live preview, then exports prefixed CSS or a React style object, and nothing between you and the answer. Keeping it that narrow is what makes it fast, and what makes it honest about how the result is produced.

How the result is produced

The whole calculation is client-side JavaScript. What happens is this: it composes the gradient from the stops and angle you set, writes the standard background-image alongside vendor-prefixed fallbacks, and for conic gradients reports a solid fallback color taken from the first stop for browsers that do not support them. Because the method is published here, any disagreement you find can be traced to a particular step instead of being blamed on a black box.

Privacy by default

Nothing you enter is transmitted. The colors, stops and angles you pick are handled by the page on your own machine, which is why CssShift has no server-side copy to lose, leak or hand over — and why it still works once you go offline.

Who it is for

  • developers who need an answer between two builds.
  • engineers verifying output before it is committed.
  • anyone who values a tool that needs no account.

How this stays free

There is no charge to use CssShift. The costs are covered by advertising, which stays out of the way of the tool itself and has no access to your input. If an advert ever interferes with the page, tell us and we will look at it.
